Stage and screen favorite Carla Gugino will join Caroline Aaron, Michelle Beck and Peter Grosz in LCT3’s world premiere production of A Kid Like Jake by Daniel Pearle. The play will begin previews at Lincoln Center's Claire Tow Theater on June 2 and open on June 17 for a limited engagement through July 14, directed by Evan Cabnet.
A Kid Like Jake centers on NYC mom Alex (Gugino) and her husband, Greg (Grosz), the parents of a precocious four-year-old son named Jake. When they begin applying to private schools, they discover that part of what makes Jake special—his passion for Cinderella and dress-up—cause concern.
Gugino, known to movie and TV audiences for her roles in Spy Kids, American Gangster, A Night at the Museum, New Girl and Entourage, has appeared on Broadway in The Road to Mecca, Desire Under the Elms and After the Fall and off-Broadway in Suddenly Last Summer.
Aaron has appeared on Broadway in I Hate Hamlet, Social Security, The Iceman Cometh and Come Back to the Five and Dime and toured in LCT’s production of The Sisters Rosensweig. Beck’s off-Broadway credits include Much Ado About Nothing, Richard III, Love’s Labour’s Lost, As You Like It and The Tempest. Grosz’s film and TV credits include Stranger Than Fiction, Veep and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
A Kid Like Jake will have sets by Andromache Chalfant, costumes by Jessica Wegener Shay, lighting by Japhy Weideman and sound by Jill BC DuBoff.
